Having a Better Past

“Give up all hope of ever having a better past.”

I was once a member of a church where the minister was fond of quoting someone saying: "Give up all hope of ever having a better past." Whenever I heard him say it, I always thought, "No, I am not quite ready to do that." I am not sure that I can't someday have a better past. That is how this entry begins. I will have to finish it tomorrow, but you know how it goes. Anti-realism with respect to the future, past, and present. That is the pitch, and it plays out every day. There are better and worse ways to play it. I think the Bush folks are trying one way.
