John McCain and The Keating Five…

I cannot vouch for the accuracy nor comprehensiveness of its work in general, nor this particular entry, but nonetheless find Wikipedia's article on The Keating Five to be informative and topical. Let's all acknowledge that there's plenty of blame to go 'round in our present mess, but since experience, judgement, and change seem to be the themes of this election cycle, it seems appropriate that we all could stand to revisit the particulars of an economic debacle from the not-too-distant past... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_five

John, it is worthy to note that the “Country First” candidate’s top tier campaign mgr, Rick Davis, has received $30K per month for 5 yrs from the Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac corps. Not bad cabbage for those that claim to be ridding the Capitol from the Money Changers & Special Interests. Just more of the same ol Bizarro GOP politics where up is down, black is white & change is more of the same.

BTW, this article was in the 9/22/08 Bham News on page 4B. $5 million to Davis, $700 billion for the Big Banks (whom incidentally transferred about $2 billion from their European subsidaries to cover the buy out of their top execs bonuses & options). Too bad we weren’t invited to share in the profits when they were being passed around huh?

So is McCain finally abandoning all pretense of being a “conservative”.  Palin is fond of saying that we can solve problems as long as the “federal” government will get out of our way.  Oops.  Well, I guess they can get in our way, so long as they are coming to clean up the mess.

TJ, Bill Maher said it pretty well on Fri night on Real Time: “there are no atheists in foxholes during war, & there are no Libertarians during financial crisis.”.

Sure hope our guys stand firm & demand some personal accountability from those in charge.
