Holiday Party

The OTMDems Holiday Party!

Friday Night, 12/19, at 7pm at the Fox and Hound Pub & Grill is going to be both a fabulous holiday celebration and Victory Party!  OTMDems welcomes all area Democrats to join us for an evening of food, drink, and fellowship as we acknowledge our extraordinary successes on Election Day.  No charge to attend, but we are asking for donations at the door to help off-set our expenses. If you’d like to help organize this event, contact Linda Verin at .

Leadership

OTMDems is looking for its next generation of leaders.

At our regular January mtg, 1/20/09, the membership will vote on a proposed set of by-laws and elect a new executive committee to govern our group.
The current executive committee (aka TLC) is therefore calling for volunteers and nominees for these important leadership positions now so that it may gauge their interest and fitness to serve.  If you would like to be considered for a post on the OTMDems Executive Committee, or to nominate someone else, please e-mail Barry Ragsdale at .  Your participation is crucial to our long-term viability, so if you won’t be attending any of the inaugural balls in our nation’s capital that night, we hope to see you at this important meeting!

YES WE DID!

WE DID IT!

Last night we realized a dream, impossible in scope, staggering to the imagination.  We elected a person of color as the President of the United States of America.  We returned a Democrat to the White House.  We beat the most venal, incompetent, and morally bankrupt political machine in modern American history.  Most importantly, we raised up a great good man to help lead us through the unprecedented challenges ahead.  We did this, all of us, the millions and millions of us across the country, buoyed by the ardent hopes and best wishes of billions more around the globe.

The day after the election four years ago here in Birmingham was one of the dreariest, wettest, ugliest days on record.  Our hearts may have been as heavy as the skies that day, but out of that darkness we came together and formed a bond that has since enriched our lives and sustained our hopes all the way up to this morning, where we beam like the morning sun.  We can all hold this moment, and each other, close for the rest of our days.  We invite you to post your thoughts at our website.  We get a lot of readers, but not many posters.  Not very many places for OTMDems-types to visit & share on-line, so please let us hear from you here!
